Profile on Academy Player Zane Powell from Fife Scotland. Zane Powell born 24th May 1993. Started walking at the age of nine and a half months and played with footballs from that day onwards. He started football training at Leven Sports Centre aged 5, and also took up karate aged 6. He moved to Kennoway FC, aged 7. and had 3 successful years there. He started jogging and doing weights aged 9, to maintain his fitness. Moved to East Fife FC for 1 year, he played 7 games and scored 21 goals. Trained with Real Madrid coaches for one week aged 10. Attended the Ian St.John camp for one week. Went to the Brazilian Soccer School Summer coachings, had a great time.
Was scouted for Blue Brazil, Cowdenbeath aged 11, played 35 games and scored 79 goals, Went to London for AC Milan trials, came 8th out of 200 boys aged 10 -18. Only the 1st five were taken to Milan. Academy Director John Cooper says that" this in itself is a great achievement and Zane came through this experience full of confidence and with a new enthusiasm.He has to be praised as do his parents". While attending trials for his county Team Fife, the Chief Scout from SPL side Dunfermline Athletic approached him with a view to signing for the club. Zane was invited to a Brazilian skills and tricks dvd with four St. Johnstone players, had a great day thanks to coach John Cooper.
Met up with Stuart Welham Futebol de Salao coach in Bangkok 2005 to perform tricks and have fun in one of his classes. Went to Glasgow Rangers FC summer training camp for one week. Zane Has been accepted for the David Beckham Academy in April 2006 for 1 week. Zane worked with St Johnstone FC first team with a football skills DVD for the Academy.
Zane won a gold medal for his school, Bell Baxter, Cupar, at the fife schools running championships, and will be taking part again in February. Zane is playing for Dunfermline FC, and enjoying every minute of it, he is a dedicated player who trains every night and weekends, he also reads about all football players and watches dvds and videos. His idol is Pele, and one day hopes to be as good as him.
During the summer zane attended the David Beckham Academy in London. Zane was lucky enough to meet and have his photo taken with Davids Mother. Photos of his trips and adventures to The Academy, Rangers Summer camp, & Real Madrid selection will follow. |
